by Ellsworth Grant The result of cuts in the budget last year (2011) for DIA’s South Terminal Redevelopment Program is becoming more apparent with the unveiling last week (Jan. 18th., 2012) of the new design executed by Gensler Architects with Denver based architects Anderson Mason Dale. The budget for the program was cut from the original $650 million dollars to $500 million dollars – a whopping $150 million dollar reduction. The new design retains the basic footprint of the original lay-out but with far more down-to-earth sensibilities. Overview The West Corridor will be a 12.1-mile light rail transit corridor between the Denver Union Station in downtown Denver and the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden, serving Denver, Lakewood, the Denver Federal Center, Golden and Jeffco.
